Bookkeeper / Accountant - Tech Consulting and Real Estate (Palo Alto)

Behind every strong company there are the Books & the Bookkeeper. We are looking for a Strong Bookkeeper to help ensure all the numbers are running smoothly for 2 privately owned slowly growing companies. Both are in one office near university in downtown Palo Alto but they each need special care and feeding.

1- Sparkfactor Design is a Product design and consulting firm that does product design and implementation for fortune 500 companies and start ups. We help design future consumer, medical, & industrial products for clients in the bay area and Sparkfactor just celebrated our 10 year anniversary.

2- We run a real estate investment company that has been operating for 7 years. We buy and remodel properties. We are on target to purchase >60 homes in 2012. We also property manage residential homes & several tech office spaces.

We are seeking someone that will thrive in our environment that has Engineers, Designers, and property management all together. We have a fast paced office where each week we have several properties getting remodeled plus something being bought or sold and several technology prototypes getting built & tested

Your typical Job tasks:

  • Facilitate the cash flow in the office: Payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconcile bank accounts.
  • Manage 10 sets of Quickbooks.
  • Work with our engineers & our engineering clients to create and track invoices for work we do & for work we hire.
  • Work with our property management side and create and track invoices for work we do & work we hire.
  • Create reports: Billing reports, Property reports, Tax reports, Investor reports.
  • Be part of a great 4-person admin team that covers the multiple businesses.

About You:

  • Have a 4 year Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3+ years of work experience in Bookkeeper / Accounting role.
  • Communicate flawlessly in English over email, in phone calls, and face to face.
  • Experienced using Quickbooks & managing payroll.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including strong excel skills.
  • You are very flexible, as the work will change as we continue to grow.
  • Willing to help identify and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Experience with real estate remodeling or leasing is a plus.
  • Experience working at a technology consulting firm a plus.
